ŠKODA Import Belgium is the official car supplier of the cars for the 2021 UCI Road World Championships

After the Tour de France, La Vuelta, Paris-Roubaix and Liege-Bastogne-Liege, ŠKODA is now also a partner and official car supplier of the 2021 UCI Road World Championships. The centenary edition of the World Championships will take place in Flanders from 19 to 26 September and will be facilitated by a fleet of ŠKODA vehicles: OCTAVIA COMBI, SUPERB COMBI and ENYAQ iV.

To understand why ŠKODA AUTO is the ideal partner for the world of cycling, we need to go back to the year 1895. Locksmith Václav Laurin had just bought a new bicycle and was anything but happy with it. When his complaints went unheard by the manufacturer, himself and bookseller Václav Klement decided to start producing their own bicycles. A year later, the Slavia brand already had 21 employees and five bicycle models in the brochure, which later led to the production of motorbikes and, eventually, the ŠKODA brand cars.

Historic moment
From this history, ŠKODA AUTO has gradually developed into the logistics partner for bicycle races. Today, the SUPERB, OCTAVIA and also the electric ENYAQ iV models have become a fixture in the peloton - both for the race management and for the teams and their guests. The fact that ŠKODA is also taking part in this year's UCI Road World Championships - in the year that the world championships celebrate their 100th anniversary - is a testament to the car brand's close ties with cycling. As the icing on the cake, the forthcoming UCI Road World Championship will this time be held in the native region of the Flandrien, as the most important Belgian sports event of the past 20 years. 

140 cars
ŠKODA Import Belgium is supplying 140 cars for use on and off the 2021 UCI Road World Championships course. The fleet will largely consist of ŠKODA models with a sustainable mix of powertrains, ranging from electric vehicles over plug-in hybrids to efficient thermal engines. As part of a large car group, ŠKODA Import Belgium is also able to quickly deliver models that are not in its own range. These include vans for media people and their equipment, as well as the Doctor's Car which has to meet specific requirements in terms of space and equipment. Finally, the ŠKODA network also provides logistical and technical support to the World Cup fleet during the 8-day cycling race. Or how ŠKODA will also convincingly put the tagline 'supporter of the greatest cycling family' into practice during the 2021 UCI Road World Championships.
