About Us – Flanders 2021

Flanders 2021 is an organisation of the local organising committee (LOC), vzw WK 2021, a cooperation between Flanders Classics and Golazo. Both parties can count on their experience as organisers of Flander’s and Belgium’s most important races, including the Tour of Flanders, the Omloop Het Nieuwsblad, the Baloise Belgium Tour, the BinckBank Tour, several cyclo-cross races and more than 40 events for active cyclists.

The local organising committee is joining forces with the Flemish Government and the host cities Knokke-Heist, Bruges, Antwerp and Leuven to celebrate the UCI Road World Championship’s one hundredth birthday.

For organising an event of this size the local organising committee will get the support of ‘EventFlanders’, founded by the Flemish Government in 2016. Back then Flemish Ministers Geert Bourgeois, Ben Weyts, Philippe Muyters and Sven Gatz collaborated to line up a Flemish top event policy. ‘EventFlanders’ operates as a part of Toerisme Vlaanderen, but still is a cooperation between Toerisme Vlaanderen, the Foreign Affairs Department, the Culture Youth and Media Department and Sport Vlaanderen.

All of the parties above are already looking forward to this anniversary edition of the UCI Road World Championships. From 18 until 26 September 2021 Flanders will be the epicenter of cycling during the 2021 UCI Road World Championships Flanders.
